Hi my name is Sandra Dee Hicks; I am the owner of Secure Care by Sandra Dee. I was born in Sackville, New Brunswick and raised in Oshawa. I am the second youngest of ten children and the mother of two children who I think are pretty terrific.

Growing up in Durham region, I have always felt a connection to our seniors; in my teenage years I remember catching the bus in downtown Oshawa and seniors always approached me to have a conversation or to ask for help with the bus routes. It was a nice feeling helping them and I guess that is when I realized that I would like to work with seniors one day. As time went by my goal was to have my own business, and I knew I wanted to help seniors. This was a big dream and to me one that didn't look practical. Finally at age 41 things changed for me and I jumped in with both feet and started my in home support business for seniors. Secure Care by Sandra Dee was born on June 10th, 2004.

I am dedicated to reaching out to seniors. I like to help people and give them good old fashioned kindness and care. I have a small company with a big heart and I am dedicated to the seniors in our community. I want our seniors to be comfortable living in their homes for as long as they want to. Life is busy and it's tough for sons and daughters to help their parents. It's just not possible to be there all the time; this is where the staff of Secure Care by Sandra Dee can help.

My staff are individuals that have a desire to help people, and they have chosen to be apart of Secure Care by Sandra Dee because they want to make a difference in the lives of our Durham Region seniors. Our goal is to help seniors maintain their independence in their homes, by taking on the duties that seniors find challenging.

With my dad's passing away in 2006 and my own senior mother, I understand how challenging it can be to give your parents the care and attention they require. I send an employee of mine into visit my mother weekly. She does her housekeeping and takes her out shopping. My mother enjoys her company very much.

Secure Care by Sandra Dee is willing to give that extra helping hand that is needed to make everyone feel more comfortable.
